In our next Digital Research Workshop on 14^th December 2023, Prof. Dr. Gerda Reith will present and discuss with participants on the topic of Cultural Aspects of Gambling. The lecture will be given in English.

Anyone involved in gambling has certainly thought about the influence of culture on gambling preferences and offerings. In her research, Prof. Reith specifically investigated the influence of Western culture on gambling. To this end, she conducted various interviews with British and American gamblers. She discussed the findings in her book "The Age of Chance Gambling in Western Culture", for which she received the Philip Abrams Memorial Prize for the best book in sociology in 2000.

The workshop will start at 04:00 pm (UTC+1) and will last no longer than 05:30 pm.

Prof. Dr. Gerda Reith is Professor of Social Sciences at the School of Social & Political Sciences at the University of Glasgow and an associate member of the School of Health and Wellbeing at the same university. She is also a member of the Responsible Gambling Strategy Board (RSGB) research group.
